Laura started her veterinary career in 1986 as a receptionist. She worked her way up to a position as a technician and then Practice Manager. When she joined our clinic in 2002 she studied for a year, then passed her test to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. In 2008 she again took on the position of Practice Manager, although she still serves as a technician when needed. She also has experience with the care of wildlife in a wildlife refuge.
She loves the variety she experiences while playing a part in every facet of the clinic, the staff, clients and their pets. She can’t remember a time when she hasn’t had a passion for animals. One of her obsessions from early on was to have her own horse. She finally achieved that dream at the age of 47. She spends every spare moment she can riding Terra, who is the light of her life.
She also has a calico cat named Cali. Laura adopted her from a shelter when Cali was eight years old, after she’d been waiting for a new home for eight long months. Laura is a big advocate of adopting adult pets. There are so many advantages. Cali adapted to their home almost immediately, has a very loving personality, and is such a joy. Cali is always burrowing under blankets, and peeking her cute face out at everyone.
When not spending time with her pets, Laura designs and creates beautiful jewelry that she sells online and at local craft fairs. She also loves gardening. Laura and her husband of twenty years, Ken, live in New Berlin.
